The islands are only 300km west of the Western Sahara desert, making the climate much warmer in winter than in Britain.
Southern Tenerife is much warmer and dryer than the North having a more desert appearance than the more lush tropical appearence of the North with many banana plantations. The South remains relativly rain free, any rain that does fall is usually between October and February.
Average daytime temperatures remain at 22°C for most of the year. The island can be windy. |
